Karl Walker

Market Development Manager at Beckhoff Automation Ltd

Karl Walker is an engineer with over 25 years’ experience in industrial control and automation systems. Having worked with high-value machine builders and end-users in the manufacturing sector to develop cutting-edge control solutions to maximise productivity, efficiency and reliability, he moved to Beckhoff Automation three years ago to apply the same principles to buildings.

As an active member of the Building Controls Industry Association’s (BCIA) technical and marketing working groups, he is a strong advocate of the fact that buildings can operate only at the most energy-efficient level and provide the most comfortable environment for occupants when all aspects of the Building Management System (BMS) are implemented holistically.

Karl is a regular contributor to the trade press and often argues that “value engineering” is the nemesis of good control practices, contributing greatly to the performance gap that is all-too-often seen in modern buildings.
